The Trust Spectrum: Get the Research Results First

Do You Trust Your Technology?

I'm researching something that matters to every business owner, leader, and professional navigating AI right now.

The question everyone is asking: Can we actually trust AI?

But that's the wrong question. Here's a better one:

We trust email to deliver our messages. We trust Google Maps to get us there. We trust our bank app to show the right balance. At what point does that same trust break down when it comes to AI?

That's what I'm measuring.

The Trust Spectrum Survey

I've built a 3-minute survey mapping the psychological journey of technology trust โ€” from the mundane to the ambitious.

From:

  • "My email will arrive" โœ“
  • "Maps will get me there" โœ“

To:

  • "ChatGPT will summarize this accurately" ๐Ÿค”
  • "An AI agent will book travel, send emails, and make purchases on my behalf" ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

The drop between these points is the most important insight in business right now.

What You'll Get

When I hit 100+ responses, I'm publishing the full findings as a series. Subscribers get everything first:

The Research Series

"The Trust Cliff" โ€” The exact point where trust in technology breaks. Which technologies people still trust vs. where AI falls short. Includes the data most pundits aren't willing to show you.

"The Trust Gap" โ€” How do technical people view AI trust vs. non-technical people? The gap is wider than you think, and it has major implications for adoption.

"Who's Responsible When AI Screws Up?" โ€” Nobody agrees on this. The answers reveal something important about how ready we really are for agentic AI.

"The AI Permission Ladder" โ€” What will people delegate to AI? Spell-check: sure. Schedule a meeting: maybe. Make a purchase: absolutely not. The ladder reveals where the real ceiling is.

"The 5-Year Prediction" โ€” Will AI be as trusted as email in 5 years? Half the people I've talked to laugh. The other half are betting their company on it.

About This Research

I'm Rob Weidner โ€” consultant, automation specialist, and founder of the Ebbe Method.

I've spent the last several years helping businesses figure out which parts of their operations to automate, when to use AI, and โ€” critically โ€” when not to.

The trust question isn't philosophical for me. It's practical. When I tell a client to delegate a process to an AI agent, they need a framework for deciding how much latitude to give it. That framework has to be built on real data, not hype or fear.

That's what this research is for.
