Doing just ducky #QuackSquad for CNN's Great Big Story
They're short, they waddle, and they're coming to eat the snails. Meet the quack squad, nature's very own pest control. Every morning, duck farmer Denzel Metthys releases over 1,000 Indian Runner ducks on the Vergenoegd Winery in South Africa. Trained to march in a long line en route to the vineyard, these ducks mean business. Project for Great Big Story, a division of CNN.
Earlier this week, CNN's Great Big Story published a piece that I had the pleasure of working on with legendary field producer Ernst Heusser. This was a super exciting project not only because of the content, (see video) but it was also a part of a whole new lineup of work that is coming organically through my website. When thinking back on my first site (I wish I still had screenshots of it, but twelve years ago I was not thinking about that. *Side note, if you have a website or personal work, always document it! While a pain at first, and something we all potentially learned in school, it is something I wish I had now to look back on) and how mediocre it was, I am just now starting to realise that personal branding and SEO is not something that can happen overnight. There is a reason why there is an entire industry with professionals making much money doing branding and marketing for corporations because it is not easy!
With all of this aside, I am very excited to say that I have an awesome project in the pipeline that relates to this topic of personal branding. While back in Chicago waiting for my fifth attempt at a visa for South Africa, this gives me time to work on more "big picture" projects, like this one.
